Within a few years,
our teachers had us industriously learning the order of the books, so no longer missed the tabs QUITE as much. In early adulthood, i wondered if i really wanted the stick-on tabs, but decided not.
When i bought another Bible, i considered getting one with the tabs, but decided it wasn't worth the extra cost. But, even having pretty reliably memorized most of the books (Minor Prophets still give me a lot of trouble!), i wanted something to help get through all those books.
These days, i use a bookmark method. Some of my bookmarks are the kind with the list of all the books, but not all of them are.
i keep a bookmark at these places:
- the beginning of Genesis
- the end of Revelation (especially helpful when there's a lot of front- and back-matter)
- the division of Old and New Testaments
- Psalm 119 (a lot of people may choose Psalm 23)
- somewhere in Isaiah or Jeremiah
- II Corinthians 10
- Hebrews 11
