Other Important Points:
  •  Within a section, the books are roughly in chronological order.
  • Chapter and verse numbers were added later for convenience.  One anecdote tells that they were added by a man traveling over the mountains on horse- or muleback, and determined by where the bumps were!  The numbers are not part of the inspired message.
  • Punctuation and sometimes even vowels were not part of the original manuscripts.  They were not part of the written languages of the time, though they were part of the spoken languages.  Thus, determining the correct ones can be  important.
Next up: A quick summary of Genesis through Deuteronomy.  Expect it in about a week.
